Filmmaker, Photographer, Dancer and Writer. Yasmeen Enahora is pursuing a Master of Fine Arts at the Tisch School of the Arts, New York University. With a background in dance + photography, Enahora became interested in film while taking Professor Spike Lee’s “Master Series: Directing Strategies” class at NYU Tisch. She currently co-owns District Photography with her partner, Stephen Miller.
In 2017, she received a full scholarship to attend Toscana Dance Hub in Florence and Agropoli, Italy. During her tenure in Italy, Enahora choreographed and documented "Leitmotif," a work based on the responsibility of artists in society. Enahora has interned with American Ballet Theatre in New York City, where she helped orchestrate ballet classes for over 40 Boys and Girls Clubs across the nation. She is an ABT Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 3 of the ABT National Training Curriculum.
Enahora graduated Magna Cum Laude from Howard University with a Bachelor of Science. With honor, Enahora delivered the benediction at graduation. During her years at Howard University, Enahora performed at the Kennedy Center in "Carmen" with the Washington National Opera, “Keuchen” choreographed by Royce Zackery at the International Association of Blacks in Dance in Cleveland, Ohio, and was featured in Howard University’s “28 Days of Dance” online exhibition: a collaboration with Brown Girls Do Ballet. All the while Enahora has taken on positions as a reviewer for DC Metro Theater Arts as a Freelance Writer, Howard University lifeguard, Genesis Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Intern, a Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth Program Assistant, and has regularly volunteered helping kids in the Metro DC area at 826DC. She studied abroad in Oaxaca, Mexico as a Lucy Moten Scholar after being awarded money from Howard University to research ballet and traditional dance in Oaxaca. Enahora was listed as an HBCU Top 30 under 30 student in 2015.
Having been awarded numerous opportunities since she was young, Enahora is very passionate about her endeavors. Before entering college, Enahora trained with the Ailey School Professional Division, Atlanta Ballet and Ballethnic Academy of Dance. As a Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream and Reach for Excellence Scholar, Enahora has received numerous scholarships to continue her artistic pursuits and training.
